North Sunny Side Up
3 hour bike tour| from 14 years | up to 8 persons |Dutch & English
We hope that after this tour you will think the same about North (Noord) as we do:
“In the past Noord The Disturbed, now The Better Place!”
This side of the IJ is the sunny side of Amsterdam, and we’re delighted to be able to show you the most beautiful locations.
A wide array of landscapes, from shipyards to industrial estates and on to rural villages dotted with delightful colored wooden houses, you’ll be presented with a distinct difference to the ring of canals seen in the centre; instead, enjoy the stunning canals that we navigate by crossing by bike. This tour gives you the opportunity to take in and learn about the rich and varied history spanning both the first and second world wars that passes by those who opt to remain in the city.
You’ll also get the opportunity to marvel in the special site of ‘De Ceuvel’: one of the most sustainable, innovative and urban experiments in the whole of Europe.
After your fill of history, why not have fun at the local market or try a real Dutch herring from ‘Naatje’, alternatively, indulge your taste-buds with a sample of the best ice cream in town – on this tour there really is something for everyone.
Noord is full of stories, street art and not for nothing is it a real sanctuary for both festivals and culture and cultural events.
A number of highlights that you can expect on the tour: architecture styles, ‘Vogelbuurt’, ‘Nieuwendammerdijk’, NDSM terrain, ‘Flora village’, De Ceuvel; one of the most sustainable and unique urban developments in Europe and a visit to the market when open.
Discover and enjoy the surprising Amsterdam-North for yourself with our cheerful guides who will be delighted to introduce you to a piece of the north. This is the perfect tour to learn more about the North and why it’s so popular amongst locals and visitors alike!

No idea how green it is in and around Amsterdam? Or don’t you have so much time to see the whole of the Netherlands, but you still want to get something out of rural life? Join us and discover rural Amsterdam!
Armed with the bike in hand, our adventure begins when we cross the lock in Amsterdam North. We pass a forest and cross a dike full of rural villages with colorful wooden houses, you really have no idea that you’re still here in Amsterdam!
We set course for the typical polder landscape and get acquainted with ‘The Netherlands as Water land’. Cycling on the dikes is a great way to look over the IJsselmeer! And from mid-April we’re even allowed by the farmer to cycle over his land, and if you’re at the water… well you’ll have to ring a bell and what happens then…. ? we’ll keep that as a surprise!
Halfway we make a tasty stop and we can recover from the trip. After a break we continue our trip.
This tour is full of fun facts about the Dutch polders, shows several picturesque villages such as Ransdorp, Durgerdam and Holysloot, and is interesting for the Amsterdammer as well as for people from outside the city.
